Ending the Cycle

I intended for my last post to be the last in this series about Hermetic philosophy but after recent events I felt compelled to write one more.

Our world is in crisis. Violence has become so common that headlines blur into one another—each tragedy echoing the last. Yet Hermetic wisdom reminds us that what we see outside is but a reflection of what we carry within. If society is fractured, it is because our collective mind is fractured. If the streets are violent, it is because our inner world has allowed violence to grow unchecked.

The Hermetic principles are not abstract philosophy; they are practical laws that show us how to heal ourselves—and in doing so, to heal our communities.

1. Mind Over Matter — The Principle of Mentalism

Every act begins as a thought. If we want to end violence, we must master the mental field. Pay attention to your inner dialogue. Stop feeding thoughts of hatred, judgment, or revenge. Instead, plant seeds of compassion and understanding. Guard your mind as you would guard your home.

2. Change the Mirror — The Principle of Correspondence

As within, so without. Every time we choose kindness in the small things—listening without interrupting, helping a stranger, refusing to escalate a conflict—we change the reflection that society casts back at us. Healing “the below” begins with healing “the within.”

3. Shift the Frequency — The Principle of Vibration

Violence spreads because fear vibrates faster than peace. But peace can be amplified, too. Breathe deeply before reacting. Speak words that soothe rather than inflame. Share art, music, stories that uplift. These are not small acts—they are frequency shifts that ripple outward.

4. Claim the Other Pole — The Principle of Polarity

Violence and peace are poles of the same energy. Every time you encounter hatred, remember: it is simply energy at the opposite pole of love. Your task is not to meet hate with hate, but to consciously pull the energy back toward compassion.

5. Break the Cycle — The Principle of Cause and Effect

Violence is the effect of causes—poverty, trauma, alienation. Do not stand idle in the face of causes. Support organizations that address root wounds. Volunteer your time. Be a mentor. Feed a family. Every positive cause you plant prevents a destructive effect later.

6. Restore Balance — The Principle of Gender

Our culture glorifies aggression and suppresses empathy. To end violence, we must honor both the active (masculine) and the receptive (feminine) energies. Be decisive, but also gentle. Take action, but also nurture. Raise children who know both courage and compassion.

The Choice Before Us

The Hermetic law of Rhythm reminds us: cycles of chaos are always followed by renewal. The question is how much destruction we will endure before we remember who we are.

Violence does not have to be the final word. The principles show us a path: master your mind, heal within, radiate peace, act with compassion, and restore balance. Each of us is a living node in the web of the All. Every choice matters.

The call is simple, urgent, and timeless: Stop waiting for the world to change. Become the cause that bends the cycle toward peace.

  1. So true 🙏 The world is hurting, but real change starts within. If we choose peace, kindness, and compassion in our daily lives, we can push back the darkness together. And this must start now…
