Yellowstone National Park is famous for its geysers and wildlife, but it’s also home to some of the most accessible and awe-inspiring waterfalls in the American West. Whether you’re short on time or just prefer scenic drives over steep hikes, these drive-up waterfalls let you experience the park’s raw power and beauty without breaking a sweat.
Firehole Falls is a 40-foot waterfall located on the Firehole River in Yellowstone National Park, along the scenic Firehole Canyon Drive. The river flows through a narrow volcanic canyon, creating dramatic scenery with dark rock walls and foaming white water. It’s a popular stop for visitors, offering an easy drive-up viewpoint and a glimpse of Yellowstone’s geothermal-heated river system.

Gibbon Falls is a 84-foot cascade on the Gibbon River, located between Madison Junction and Norris Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park. The waterfall flows gracefully over a gradual, fan-shaped cliff of volcanic rock, making it one of the park’s most photogenic stops. A paved overlook along the road provides easy access and sweeping views of both the falls and the Gibbon River Canyon below.

Lewis Falls is a picturesque 30-foot waterfall on the Lewis River in Yellowstone National Park, located just south of Lewis Lake along the park’s South Entrance Road. The falls are easily visible from the roadside, making them a popular quick stop for visitors entering or leaving the park. Surrounded by dense forest and often misted with spray, Lewis Falls offers a serene glimpse of Yellowstone’s wild southern landscape.

I haven’t been there for 19 years, but now that I live in Colorado, I’m closer to so many of the beautiful national parks.
